UI/UX Design

Redefining Mirror.com

A new responsive website template to fit the Reach brands such as Express, The Mirror, Daily Star, Liverpool Echo, Manchester Evening News and many more.

I worked on the new fully responsive website for The Mirror Newspaper which worked as a template for their other national, regional and local publications such as: Daily Record, The People, Manchester Evening News and Liverpool Echo just to name a few.

Working closely alongside the head of UX and Design in our respective “agile” working teams made up of onshore/offshore developers, testers and product managers. I was responsible for creating innovative, pixel-perfect user interface and visual designs across Desktop, Tablet and Mobile.

Producing high visual HTML prototypes, whilst problem solving complex layouts for wide variation of content and presenting designs and selling solutions to various stakeholders across the business.

Challenges

Some of the challenges for this project were making sure the template was suitable and adaptable for the amount of websites it needed to be built for. Not only did we have the national papers to consider, the new site also had to be suitable for all the local and regional papers too.

There were also plenty of library components that needed creating so we could easily use them across the multiple sites, some of these included; galleries, countdown timers, quizzes, news grids, news timelines, unsupported content and news tags.
